(A calcium aluminum silicate mineral that crystallizes in the form of large masses or small prismatic crystals. It is a member of the Zoisite family (like Tanzanite) with its pink color caused by inclusions of Manganese. Its name derives from the mystical island “Thule” (now known as Scandinavia) which marked the outer most northern edge of the world in ancient times. The Largest deposit of Thulite is found in Trondheim, Norway surrounded by swampy bogs making it only accessible by foot and helicopters. Small deposits have now been found in other areas, but not in the quality or quantity of Norway.)
