Rhodochrosite is manganese carbonate mineral with a hardness of 3.5 to 4. It usually forms in large botryoidal, nodular or stalactitic forms, but sometimes it forms prismatic crystals. The name Rhodochrosite is derived from the Greek word for its rose-red color.
